 What if I owe money?
E-file your balance due return and receive the advantage of the accuracy of e-file and the knowledge that your return was received by the State Tax Department. Additionally, there are three ways to pay.

Electronic Funds Withdrawal or Direct Debit, as it is also known, allows the balance to be automatically deducted from your checking account. You can choose to pay the balance due at the time of filing or delay the payment until April 15th. It's your choice and there's no check to write or get lost in the mail. For more information, go to the West Virginia Tax Commission site.

Pay with a Credit Card at anytime prior to the tax due date. Official Payments Corporation can process your payment over the telephone or on their website and your payment is acknowledged for receipt. For more information, go to West Virginia Tax Commission Credit Card Payments

For those who prefer the old fashioned method, you can pay with a check attached to the WV IT-140V payment voucher. The voucher is used to match your payment to your tax return and is all that is required to be sent with the check. Caution: Please be careful not to send a copy of your tax return as this can cause needless delays to processing the payment.
